What’s your major and year?

Second-year Public Health major, Public Policy minor.

How long have you been a member of ENCompass?

I have been a member of ENCompass for about a year now.

What public health issue are you most passionate about?

I would say I am most passionate about health care and health insurance, specifically the health outcomes of other countries with single payer systems or national health insurance.

In what way has ENCompass impacted you?

When I joined ENCompass I was mostly interested in international health, but actively working in the community and seeing how many problems exist just within a five-mile radius has made me realize I am more interested in domestic health.

What other organizations are you involved in?

I am also a student manager at a campus coffee shop and I just recently became an HIV/STI counselor.

What are your future plans?

I am considering epidemiology, but to be honest, I'm not sure what my future plans are.

What's your major and year?

Public health, 2nd year

How long have you been a member of ENCompass?

This is my second year

What is a public health issue that you are passionate about?

I want to improve outcomes for people who are victims, and victims who report sexual violence.

In what way has ENCompass impacted you?

When I came to college, I had become pretty cynical about my ability to ever truly help anyone. I felt overwhelmed, and discouraged, and I'd lost my vicious conviction that maybe change was obtainable. ENCompass gave me that sense of optimism back. I've regained that sense that maybe someday, things will be different, and I can make things different, and I can work towards actually making meaningful change in people's lives.

Are you involved in any other organizations? If so, what are they?

I'm a volunteer at the Physicians Free Clinic at the department of public health downtown, and I'm a research assistant in the ER at Children's Hospital.

What are your future plans?

I would like to become a pediatric cardiologist.

What's your favorite quote?

"Among a coward's weapons, cynicism is the nastiest of all.” -Tracy Kidder

Interesting fact about you?

I've watched the entirety of the Office upwards of ten times.

What's your major and year?

Senior - Major: Biochemistry Minor: Global Public Health

How long have you been a member of ENCompass?

I joined ENCompass in the Fall of 2016, so 1 year.

What is a public health issue that you are passionate about?

One public health issue that I am interested in and would like to learn more about is immigrant health and the disparities that exist within these communities. Specifically, I am interested in how immigration policies affect immigrants’ access to care.

In what way has ENCompass impacted you?

ENCompass has been one of the most eye-opening and enriching experiences I have had in college. Being able to work with the Columbus community and directly address critical public health issues like food insecurity and housing instability has changed the way I view health as a whole. ENCompass has shown me the need for social care and public health in our society and I intend on continuing this type of work in my future.

Are you involved in any other organizations? If so, what are they?

I am a 4th Year Health Science Scholar and I am a research assistant in the Musier-Forsyth Lab which studies the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) packaging and assembly.

What are your future plans?

I hope to attend medical school in the near future. Although I am currently unsure of what type of medicine I want to practice, I know I would like to continue tackling the health disparities that affect my local community.
